This paper presents the first experimental evidence on the effects of live versus internet media of instruction. Students in a large introductory microeconomics course at a major research university were randomly assigned to live lectures versus watching these same lectures in an internet setting, where all other factors (e.g., instruction, supplemental materials) were the same.

2009 E-learning Benchmarking Survey

The 2009 survey of RTOs shows that 39% of all VET activity now formally involves e-learning (on average across all states/territories and provider types). This continues an upward trend which has seen e-learning grow from around 3-4% of all VET unit enrolments in 2003-2004.

This book aims to provide a basis for the design of frameworks, the identification of indicators and existing data sources, as well as gaps in areas needing further research.
