Advancing gender equality and empowering women has cross-cutting impacts and hence contributes significantly to achieving the internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals. The challenge to public administration is not only the delivery of services but also addressing the full-fledged participation of all citizens, especially women. The present note describes the measures governments can consider adopting to address the gender dimensions.
