The problem of learner control in networked personal learning environments

This paper argues that there is a need for further research that takes into account the features of personal learning environments, namely learner control, self-directed learning, the distribution of power in networked-based communication systems, and some intrinsic characteristics of web-based learning that require an increased awareness on the part of the learners. One goal of this paper is to contribute to a framework for conducting such research.
