A small scale trial of university supervisors observing their pre-service teaching students in a classroom at a distant location was reported in an article Windows into classrooms: using ICT to facilitate regional, rural and remote practicum and teacher professional learning in the journal of Australian Educational Computing. The study is very timely because of the increasing complexities and difficulties of supervising teaching practice. Although information and communications technology (ICT) may not replace physical supervision and dialogue between university supervisors and pre-service teaching students, audio and video conferencing can be a supplement that provides distinct benefits.
