Safe use of new technologies

Much has been written recently in the media about the use of the internet and the safety of online users, especially young people. A good report comes from the Office for Standards, Children's Services and Skills (OFSTED) in the UK about schools developing safe internet practices. It provides some sound insights about how to prepare for the safe use of digital technologies. The report states that the schools visited and surveyed "needed to focus more consistently on developing a curriculum for e-safety which builds on what pupils have learnt before and which reflects their age and stage of development; provide training which enables all staff, not just teachers, to support pupils; and helping families to keep their children safe."
