A recent discussion paper covers the issues of using handheld technologies for learning quite well. It begins by introducing what the word ‘handheld’ means by including a range of devices including tablets, ereaders, iPads, SmartPens, smartphones and the like with touch-screen and wireless capabilities. The discussion is particularly useful around the classroom benefits of handhelds including their use as assistive technologies for people with physical disabilities.
